Description
Florette is an elegant wooden brigantine, about 40 meters long overall for a master building of just over 7 meters. A traditional Mediterranean sailboat, it has more than 500 m² of sail area that gives it a sleek and timeless silhouette. Its wooden hull, spars and classic rigging make it a warm, lively and authentic ship, very popular with fans of old rigging. Designed for offshore navigation and the reception of passengers, Florette nevertheless retains the soul of a work ship, with a clear bridge, old-fashioned maneuvers and a unique maritime atmosphere on board.
History
Built in the early 1920s, Florette was initially designed as a Mediterranean cargo sailboat, intended for the transport of goods between coastal ports. Over time and with the rise of motorization, it escaped demolition thanks to passionate owners who patiently restored it.
Its rigging is adapted, its comfort modernized, but its traditional wooden Brigantine structure is preserved. From the end of the 20th century, Florette began a new life as a tall ship for travel and discovery, participating in gatherings of old rigging, in school cruises and in offshore sailing. It then becomes a real floating witness of maritime heritage, allowing its crews and passengers to rediscover the sensations of traditional sailing on a tall wooden sailing boat.
