History

The Phoenix is a remarkable sailboat born in 1929 in Frederikshavn, Denmark. Initially built as a commercial sailboat by Hjorne and Jakobsen, it has enjoyed an extraordinary trajectory. For 20 years, it served as a schooner for an evangelical mission, before becoming a cargo ship.

In the 1980s, the Phoenix experienced a spectacular revival. Repurchased and restored, it was transformed into a brigantine, becoming a real movie ship. His first major cinematic transformation took place in 1991, when he was converted into Santa Maria for the Ridley Scott movie “1492: Christopher Columbus.”
